Gym Paint Job

If you would have told me that we would paint more than one sanctuary ceiling when we painted the 305 Camden building I would have laughed. Now here we are painting yet another here in the 601 E. College building!
I know you will be amazed at the transformation. Thank you to the volunteers who helped make this a reality! It is beautiful!

Snow Removal - Test Run

Today was a good test run of the snow removal system for the new Grace Life Church building. Good thing we only ended up with a little bit of slush!
We learned that the former parking lot snow removal tractor is not even close to big enough for clearing the new parking lot. We learned that ice and snow build up in the broom tractor housing will eventually cause the unit to tip forward and loose all meaningful steering!
Best of all we were reminded of the great people we have living around the property! Mr. Archbold pulled in and saved the day with his new truck mounted plow. Thank you!
Needless to say we will adjust our snow removal plans and prepare for the real deal that is bound to arrive soon.

Door Refinishing

There are a couple missing doors near the main entry. If you have been in the church you have no doubt noticed the restroom doors are missing!

Don't worry, the doors are in good hands. Chad and James have been working on sanding and refinishing the doors for about a week now. Hopefully, they will be finished and reinstalled this week.

Thank you Chad and James! Keep up the good work.

Gym Painting

Have you every taken time to look at the gym ceiling? In case you have not, let's just say it needs some help.
This Christmas break we have a chance to do something about it! Our plan is to paint the ceiling and the walls down to the tile level. Starting on December 22 and 23 we can begin to plastic and tape the high areas.
The actual painting is planned for December 26 - 30. Please contact Rob by calling the church office if you are able to help out!

Building Security

Every building user and all 50+ people who have been issued keys are responsible for keeping our building secure.

We ask that everyone who unlocks a door be sure to lock the same door in the evening. If you are the last one to leave the building from your organization take a moment to be sure the main entry used by your organization is secured.

Never leave normally locked doors partial open while unattended.

All building users have a good knowledge of who belongs in the building and who does not. Do not hesitate to challenge anyone new seen wandering the halls.

When you leave your classroom make sure all lights and heat sources are off and the windows are closed. Finally, lock the door to your classroom when you leave.

Hand Rail Restoration

Beautiful! You might walk past them without a thought, but you would be missing a very nicely done piece of building restoration!

We are in the middle of a project to refinish all of the handrails throughout the building. This includes shining up the metal rail mounts. It is amazing what a difference it has made!

This project combined with the ongoing project to clean the tile walls really improves the overall presentation of the building.

Thank you to James, Steve, and Terry!

Main Entry Carpet

We will begin the process of installing the new carpet in the main entry on Friday December 8th.

The first step is to fill in the floor where the recessed floor mat is located. While the filler is curing, the main entry door will be locked to keep people off the floor. Please use the MACS entry during this time.

Capet installation is scheduled to take place during the week of December 11th.

Thank you to Mike DeVoss of Mike's Flooring for taking on this project!

Whirlamatic!

IT'S HERE! The Whirlamatic Pro 21 with the 17 Hp Kawasaki arrived today.

Now I know what your thinking - what is the big deal? This is a high quality floor burnisher. It will allow us to shine and maintain the tile floors throughout the building in the way that they were designed to be maintained. We believe that you will notice a distinct improvement in the floors in a week or two of running this unit up and down the halls. I know Steve D. can't wait to fire this baby up!

We have added Section R - Fire Safety. With the cold and Christmas season now in full swing, we have become alerted to some fire safety issues. Please stop by Room 203 to pick a copy of the new building policy manual and find out what we can all do to prevent fires.

Chair vs. Wall

Have you noticed the battle waging between the folding chairs and the walls? It seems that the folding chairs are coming against the walls every chance they get! :-)

Please do not lean folding chairs against our freshly painted walls. There are folding chair racks in the cafeteria, cafeteria storage, gym storage and meeting room. Please use these racks and help us preserve the walls.

Thank you for your help and care for our building!

Snow Removal

It won't be much longer before we get to find out how much fun snow removal is when you own 8.5 acres in the middle of Marshall! Just the sidewalk along will take awhile to clear.

Here is the plan.

  1. Clear the drop off lane and entry doors used by building users.

  2. Clear the public sidewalks.

  3. Clear the parking lot.

  4. Clear the entries that are not normally used.

Note: If the snow falls on a weekend, clearing the parking lot will move to step one on the snow removal plan.

Hit the Lights!

Minimizing our building utilities costs takes each one of us doing our part. If you are the last one to leave your area of the building, please take a minute to make sure the lights are off. Some of the common area lights are the ones most often overlooked. These include the gym, hallways, and restrooms. All to often we drive by the building at night and discover various lights still on in the building. When in doubt - turn them off.

Thank you for your help in keeping costs down by HITTING THE LIGHTS!

Changes to Building Decor & Presentation

Have you ever felt like changing the building decor or presentation? Does something strike you as ugly and needing improvement?

The first step in any building decor change or building presentation change is to contact the Church Administrator. With the new building there are many variables that must be considered prior to making these proposed changes. Ultimately our goal is to maintain good relations among all parties with a vested interest in the building decor and presentation.
